Shadow of the Vampire

It's eerie, it's creepy, it will give you the shivers. Willem Dafoe is Count Orlok!!!
The Shadow of the Vampire is a very well made movie. For a guy who loves Nosferatu this film is just eye candy with a creepy story and I love it. The basic plot is that it takes place during the shooting of the film Nosferatu and a fictional scenario comes up on what would happen if the actor playing Count Orlok was an actual vampire, or at least a guy who thinks he is a vampire (I was never really sure which one the film was going for, maybe it was made to debate that).
There are scenes that are so creepy you'll feel like your finally watching a decent horror film. There are scenes that will make you laugh uncomfortably. They remake certain scenes from the film with these actors and it looks just like from the movie. They even slip in actual clips of the movie that will go unnoticed by the audience.
John Malkovitch plays F. W. Murnau, the director of Nosferatu. His character is wonderfully played as a guy who just want's to finish his film and will do anything to get it into theaters. His character is thought to be very straight forward until you notice that he is the only one who really knows everything about the production. Going so far that he will dismiss people so that "Count Orlok" can make his scenes. And the Pièce de résistance is the last scene in the movie when people from outside walks in on him filming his grisly plan like a lunatic.
The film has amazing actors: John Malkovich, Willem Dafoe, Cary Elwes, and Eddie Izzard. A fantastic creepy film that if your interested in watching it I recommend watching Nosferatu first to give you a better perspective on this.

RECOMMENDATION: High
