Dead Snow 2: Red VS Dead

Wow! What a come back, amazing what a sequel can do.

Now I saw this Dead Snow before I ever saw the first one. I only heard rumors that the first was was so bad it was laughable and so I was skeptical when I decided to watch this. I actually had the pleasure of watching this movie at Sundance. I went with a group from school and a few went to see this at the midnight showing and came back with nothing but positive reviews. Curious about this I decided that Dead Snow 2 will be the last film I watch before leaving Sundance, and boy did it not disappoint.
Wow! I really liked this when I saw it in the theater, but after finally watching the first one I am amazed that they were able to do a sequel, and a sequel that is so superior to the first one at that! Everything they did in this film was just good. Over the top. All around awesomeness that everyone should experience. For starters this film starts immediately where the last one ended. The nazi general gets his arm cut off in the struggle and the main character (last survivor from 1st film) wakes up in the hospital and finds that a doctor mistook the zombie arm for his own and sewed it on him. If this doesn't sound awesome already then I'm not sure what is.
Because the main human character gets the nazi arm it is only fair that the zombie gets the human's arm as a replacement. Equal rights yeah! But with the zombie upgrade the human eventually tames the arm and now has the power to crush zombies with his fist and raise his own zombie army to go against the nazi zombies. What zombies does he bring up? The Russians. And boy what a fight they make. This film is full of awesome over the top sequences that just makes any zombie fan boy squeal in glee.
This movie really shows what a sequel can really do to a franchise. This kick butt film brings the fun back with buckets of blood. I would recommend this to any horror fan because this has the laughs, the awesome, and some horrific imagery. Go now and watch, enjoy, and experience. Have you seen this film? Was this better than the first? What are your thoughts?

RECOMMENDATION: High
