Return of the Fly

Buzz...Buzzzz.....Buzzz....
Oh boy! Here comes a sequel where it replicates the exact same thing as the original, okay not really but you have to admit the similarities. Return of the Fly has young Filippe all grown, a scientist like his father, with a passion for completing the same experiment that was his father's demise. This time it added an assistant who is an escaped criminal from overseas.
Yada Yada Yada and boom Filippe becomes a fly mutant just like his father, but more violent. Honestly I didn't like this film. I felt like for the 50's what they had in the original Fly was perfect as a standalone, until the reboot. This sequel really didn't give us anything new other than a really cool yet disturbing scene where a human is integrated with a hamster. Other than that scene the make-up they did for Philippe's Fly is atrocious.
Even to die hard Fly fans (are there any die hard Fly fans?) I'm not sure if they would like this. At some level I can see this being a decent movie, but because it is a sequel I just don't see much use in watching it. Especially when you have the original and two rebooted movies. Has anyone seen this film, and what did you think?

RECOMMENDATION: Low
