The biggest problem with monster films, are that (especially with a popular creature) the audience wants to see as much of the monster as possible. That is why monster films like to tease or start their monster's arc very early on, if not then on the first frame. But, this film, The Invisible Man's Revenge uses one of the biggest no-nos of mine: they do not have an invisible man on screen until nearly half way through the film (maybe around 30 min in, but still!)
Not only did it feel like they took forever to get to the invisible part, but they had a very (almost) uninteresting story. I do have to give the film credit for actually trying to have a story and get us to know the characters rather than being a 'monster film' but it just took so long to get to an interesting part that every time the invisible man wasn't on screen it felt slow and at times boring. Now that doesn't mean this film didn't have some cool scenes in it.
I thought that they perfectly cast Jon Hall as the invisible man. He really showed a wickedness to being invisible and with revenge on the mind he transcends the role and really acts like a God when invisible. His voice is chilling, and the ending scene in the winery would make people's skin crawl if they put themselves in the poor guys shoes. That and there was a great scene where he sticks his invisible hand in the water and plasters it on his face (as you can see above) that was really cool to watch. However, I feel like there was just too little to like in this film and not much of it was memorable as past invisible man films.
RECOMMENDATION: Low
